Hey everyone,
It's been a long time since i've been at the boards but the iBook has been running strong for the last year not a crash yet! So happy to have switched but recently i've been having a problem. After i wake up the book from sleep the screen will be blurry for a few seconds then snap into perfect working order, other times it will come back perfect but with about 5 or 6 lines on the top left area under the menu and those lines stay unless you sleep it again and open it then they go away. Any ideas?
Kevin

Are you familiar with the expose functions of Mac OSX? It sounds like you are either enabling the zoom feature which could blur the contents of a window (which I've noticed on occasion) or the 'show desktop' option which often leave a white border around the edges denoting window which have been pushed off the edge of the screen.
Look in your System Preferences and play with the features of Expose and see if this is what you're experiencing. It may be you have a hot corner or key setup that's turning this on by accident during your wake from sleep.

It has nothing to do with Expose. I do have the exact same issue with my iBook G4 800mhz. It was not happening on my old iBook 500mhz, and it doesn't happen either on my brother's iBook (which is a 800mhz G4 too).
I'm wondering if I should take it back to Apple for a fix while it's still under warranty
Looks similar to the logic board issue of the iBook G3 for those who knows what it looks like
kevin, if you take yours back to Apple, let us know what they say...

Here is a screenshot of the issue... (I didn't manage to take a screenshot of the screen when it's blurred/scrambled, it goes away before the screenshot is taken)

Huh, from the description it could have sounded like I described and stand corrected. Thanks for the screenshot, it depicts your situation fairly well.
It appears like I've seen happen when there's a memory problem in a video card or poor timing in the card (from others descriptions of what 'timing' may be required).
If you're not in warranty any longer, you're likely not going to get any help from Apple. But if this is anyhow related to the 'known display issues' with the earlier (pre G4) iBooks you should see if you fall in that range of serial numbers. They are fairly quick about this type of repair and it extended past many warranties.
I know the expiration for the extended warranty was coming up VERY soon. You should look into it asap if you qualify.
Good luck.

It's one year unless you have Apple Care (which is 3 years if I remember correctly). You might want to try to talk to Apple and ask if they can take it under warranty if it has just expired. I think I'll try to bring mine to the local Apple Store...

I get the exact same thing. When I wake from sleep by opening the iBook. Sometimes it also shakes for a second when I first open it. I still have a few months left on AppleCare, so let me know what happens with yours!
