ive been looking into the 1.33 ghz ibook for sometime now for video editing but ive begin to get a little bit scared that rendering times will just eat me to death now i did see a post saying that the 1.2 ghz ibook would be almost the same as the one the next step up and since i am a little strapped for cash at the moment i am thinking about going for this one now

so basically my question is if i were to get a 1.2 ghz ibook and get a 512mb stick of ram would this be adaqueate(sp?) to run final cut photoshop and other similar programs? what about with a gig stick of ram?

thanks

-Ryan

also is there possibly a way to use the spanning hack and get another monitor in the mix while also adding a tv for previewing clips?

You could only span to one external screen (TV or Monitor). As for how performance is, I have a Rev B 12" (1GHz with 1024MB and a 4200RPM HD) I could run Final Cut on it but you'd be much better off with an external HD at 7200 RPM's or more and not to metion the extra 200MHz on your machine. Photoshop is a moot point, it'll run just fine but make sure you get that 512MB chip in fast, and the next version of the CS suite isn't taking advantage of 64bit processing so you should be fine with that machine for atleast another year. Try the 1gig RAM deal in the PB forum, for $80 more you get double the RAM and it's pretty rock solid (been using mine for I don't know how many months and not one kernal panic). Bottom line, you'll blister through photoshop fine and run Final Cut a little slow but hey what can you expect from a single G4, compared to the Dual 2.5 G5's every professional is using now a days.
NOW YOU SEE ME! 2.4 MBP and 2.0 MBP (running ubuntu)

You can get a 60 gig HD for 80 €/?? $. This is a no brainer.
