Do you know if it is possible to buy from the US webstore for someone who lives in Italy?
Buying from US would save me 400+ euro!!!
Why european PBs are so overpriced?

I tried to buy one from smalldog electronics but they cancelled the order because apple doesn't allow dealers to export. I went the ebay way, but after shipping, paying import taxes and the recent pricedrop here in the Netherlands I only saved EUR 200 on my 12" PB with combo.

They won't even let you enter a U.S. address.
What you're looking for is a gray-market importer. Or just get a friend to buy it and send it over.

yup, have it sent in a plain box by someone you trust. This is how I got my tibook.
That said in the past I've ordered photography equipment from B & H Photo and they've shipped internationally in a plain box. it seems that they sell Macs, so you might want to give them a look.
But just beware it getting stopped by customs which will mean you'll either have to pay duty plus penalty or have it returned to the US at your expense. Otherwise if you can somehow prove that you purchased the computer at least six months ago...that might work as well.

Many years ago, when the $ was doing poorly, there were tales of people flying into NYC to buy blue jeans which they would sell upon returning to Europe--thereby paying for their trip. Perhaps Macs and iPods will pay for a vacation plane ticket?
Best alternative is to inquire amongst friends about anyone going to the US on business. They'd go over with an empty delapidated laptop bag and return with a filled laptop bag, with many "personal" docs and biz related stuff on the desktop, in case anyone asks... The empty carton could be shipped or disposed of.
I sleepily remember as a kid passing many French customs posts in the wee hours of the morning with many "gifts" of whisky hidden in the trunk. It's a national sport...???
