Hi,

I've got a 1Ghz Titanium PowerBook with 1G RAM, an 80gig 5400rpm drive and a 4x superdrive. It's 2 years old, and other than a bit of pink appearing in the bottom corners of the screen on wakeup, the machine works fine. I use it for daily tasks like web browsing, mail, some web design and graphics work and I also use it to do digital audio using ProTools.

I was committed to waiting for a machine twice the speed of my 1Ghz TiBook before I upgraded, but it seems that there will be no new PowerBooks upgrades in the near future.

So, I'm thinking of getting a new 15in 1.5Ghz AlBook. Opinions? Do you think this would be a good thing to do? Will it be a significant upgrade or should I stick it out for another 6 months (?) and see if another PowerBook comes out?

All opinions welcome!

Don't make the plunge just yet. One last G4 update is coming in the near future. Possibly the 1.67GHz - 100GB HD - 128MB standard video memory, etc. that has been spoken of elsewhere.

Just hang in there a little while longer (I'm waiting with you)

Besides your computer is no slouch by any means. If I were you I'd wait till the next rev, it's going to be a silent bump but it'll be worth it. Especially if the rumor of 5400RPM being standard alongside 128MB VRAM and a speed boost to boot. You never know, maybe a slight bus speed increase might be instore as well. I'd wait if I were you, your Ti specs are real nice.
NOW YOU SEE ME! 2.4 MBP and 2.0 MBP (running ubuntu)
