Just got a 14" G4 iBook and find that the trackpad click is really loud compared to my 12" G3. I wouldn't want to sit beside someone on a plane who was using one of these. The G3's click is really soft... you can hardly hear it. Anyone else find the G4 too loud? Is it just mine? Is there a cure?

mine doesn't seem too loud but this is my frist laptop so i have no comparison. I can tell you that no one will have a problem with your laptop on a plane, with all the outside noise the click is hardly audible on a plane.

The click is a bit loud by me too, but its normal. I just turned on the tap to click option and use that. I find the biggest problem with the loud click is when I am using the internal mic to record my classes. Also compared to the fans I sometimes hear in PC laptops the clicking noise is nothing.

Yeah mine feels rough and is loud. Compared to my older Ibook, this new one is not as smooth and silent. It feels more sturdy, but keyboard and trackpad is not as "smooth." That's the best word I can think off when describing the experience.

Yep, the trackpad button on the G4 iBooks suck in comparison to the G3s. My G3's trackpad button was nice and silent. The new ones are terribly clunky. I don't know if this is the case on all G4 iBooks or just a large number of them. I really wish there was something that could be done to silence the darned thing.

I just bought one last night and that's the first thing I noticed and I hate it. Compared to my old Tibook, the noise is very annoying. I'm using an external mouse.
