So my brother has a Tibook that doesn't burn dvds. I burn a TON of dvds and need to replace my powebook's lower case, which means i have to remove everything.

I'm thinking of putting the 8x dual layer pioneer drive into my powerbook mentionied in this thread http://forums.macnn.com/showthread.p...hreadid=241436

has anyone done this? will it have heat issues?

I then am wondering since i have a perfectly good 2x drive, maybe i should put it into my brother's Tibook.

Is this plausible, we both have 15 inch powerbooks.

It depends on what model TiBook it is. The older ones didn't use standard slot-load notebook optical drives, because there were no "standard" models back then. Later TiBooks switched to industry-standard models.

If it's a 400MHz-667MHz with DVD-ROM, you can't swap the drive.

If it's a 550MHz or higher with CD-RW, then you can swap the drive.
