i want to keep the area to the left and right of the touchpad from wearing out. i've noticed that after continuous use the paint around the area that the wrists rest on wears out. i have a new powerbook and i don't want that to happen again. the dell laptops at my work have clear plastic stick-on things that cover those areas. i was wondering if anyone knows where to get them and if there are ones specifically made for powerbooks. any information would be appreciated.
thanks

i never thought of that. thanks for the tip. are they easily removable though? i wouldn't want them to pull the paint off.

There is no paint on the PowerBook. It's anodized aluminum.

i've seen a powerbook at the genius bar in san francisco's main apple store (we have two!) that has the left side starting to look pitted. WTF? that got me worried but i didnt want to sound like an ass so i didnt bring it up...

sweat is corrosive. there are pics within the forums that illustrate the pitting, it looks like tiny black spots.

Avery brand transparent self stick laminating sheets work perfectly. Trim to size and stick on. They can be peeled off later. Any adhesive residue wipes off easily with rubbing alcohol. I've protected my PB AL 12's top cover, keyboard deck and button with it for over a year. No sweat corrosion or watch band scratches on my machine. I replace the laminate once in the last year. It's dirt cheap too.
