to preface this, thanks for anyone that helps me out.

ok so I have a powerbook g4...yesterday, it all of a sudden decided to stop recognizing that I had an airport card installed. For some retarded reason, I thought reinstalling the system software would fix it - but here's the problem. my OS is/was PANTHER, but Icouldn't find the CDs so I used the system software that came with the powerbook, which was mac os X 10.2.7

since then, the computer has been a wreck. all my files are saved under "previous system," but hardly anything works. most applications are all of a sudden not compatible, it takes an extra 2 gigs to store that stuff, etc. safari will open but no web pages will ever open, it's so strange. my question is: how can I switch it back to panther and have everything be back to normal? I'm down with trying anything at this point.

If you have found the Panther disks, how about re-installing it in place of 10.2.7? I trust that you made a backup of your data before the 10.2.7 install. If not, you should make one now of the previous system...

Otherwise, it sounds tricky... BTW, this should probably be in the Mac OS X forum, not powerbook. And you might attract more potential helpers with a more specific topic, like "Reinstalling 10.2.7 over Panther hoses Powerbook -- HELP!!"

good luck
