I can't wait to hook my new iBook up to my stereo so I can play my iTunes playlists at my thirty-fifth birthday party next week. I just went out and bought a Y-adapter with a 3.5mm mini stereo plug on one end and a left/right pair of RCA plugs on the other end.

I figure I can just insert the mini-plug into the iBook headphone jack and the other two into the audio inputs on my stereo and I'm good to go, right? Or am I missing something?

Yep, that's all there is to it. Just be sure to turn up the system volume and iTunes' volume all the way up, since anything less will be under "line level" like the stereo is expecting.

And also, with the proper adapter, you can show the iTunes visualizer on your TV set.

Pick up a Mini-VGA to composite.

If you plan on doing this often, I suggest getting Airport Express. It is so convenient!

Your bang on the money........

It sounds like you'll have a great party and don't be afraid to show off your ibook to everyone.

They well be amazed at how great the system works. Then all your friends well have one and you can share your mac tips.

have fun

happy birthday

Thanks. I'm quite excited; I don't usually have license to subject a roomful of people to my music. Now they'll have to listen and at least pretend to enjoy it. I'll bake a couple of lasagnas and eggplant parmesans, toss a salad, and uncork some red wine!

No, I won't be shy about showing off the iBook! I even have my WildEepz and my Screensavr all ready to go, plus my 1GB memory module from NewEgg.

Thanks for the good wishes. This is going to be a great birthday!
