i have an ibook g4 and i want to install a dvd-rw but i dont know what type is compat. and if there is one that will evven fit in the ibook can i get a link or something.

i have been looking for this upgrade the compat. drive from a while now i just kept finding a site that did it for you for $239 i think it was.

Not if you put all the metal tape back very neatly...

My iBook was supposed to be a combo but shipped with DVD instead. Something got messed up at the factory, so I got away with some other things because "they must have done that at the factory."

Wouldn't it be something if you got the SuperDrive in the 12" straight from the factory by accident? Then Apple would have no excuse for offering SuperDrive in the 12" iBook (except economical reasons).
