My girlfriend and I have the same ibook, the G4 1ghz (except she has the 1.2). Just today when she woke up and unplugged the power supply, the ibook suddently turned off and restarted by itself. She was able to run it while the batter charger was on but as soon as she took it off the computer would restart, as if the ibook was taking it's primary source of power from the charger and NOT it's own battery. Her battery status is said to be 99% full. I dont know whether its a hardware issue or not. I'd appreciate it if anyone has any idea on what the problem may be or if it ever happened to you in the past.

Hardware issue. Battery is probably shot; either get a new one or by the grace of God it may be conditionable.

Take your battery and put it in her iBook. If it works fine, it's her battery (the chip inside can malfunction). If it still F's up, it could be a bunch of things. Start off by resetting the PRAM - ctrl+opt+P+R at startup. Also, go into your system.log and post it here (if you find an error).
