I have a 12" 1.33 ghz powerbook, and I think I'm having a problem with the power adapter. When I am charging the battery (orange light) the power adapter box gets extremely hot, to the point that if I leave my hand on it for too long, it hurts (one side gets hotter than the other). As well, if I put the power adapter to my ear, I hear a faint buzzing sound near the end where the plug that goes into the powerbook comes out.

Is this normal? Or do I have a faulty power adapter?

Thanks in Advance.

Derek

if u put ur ear very close, it does a buzzing sound, but i think thats normal in any electrical component. Tho mine dosnt gets hot, the best thing u can do is go and change it.

My iBook power adapter also gets hot, but so does every power adaptor. It takes a lot of work to convert the voltage from the wall into your 'Book, and as a result it gets hot. Don't worry about the buzzing sound - it's perfectly normal for almost any power converting device.

Mine gets pretty warm, but I don't hear any buzzing from it.

Hrmm, well whatever it is, it doesn't really matter too much. I just called an apple authorized service center, and I'm getting it replaced (still under warranty)

Thanks,

Derek
