I'm not sure which forum this belongs in. Apologies if this belongs in the software forum.

I'm about to buy an iBook and was just curious.

It'll probably come with a DVD and/or CD included with the iBook (not PREloaded, but in the box). I just got my iBook today (!!!!) and it came with iLife '05 but it wasn't preloaded. Installing it is easy though.

Hope you enjoy your new iBook when you get it!

I just got my 12" iBook two days ago and it didn't have iLife (neither installed nor on CD/DVD). My reseller, PowerMax in Lake Oswego, OR, initially said that Apple would begin shipping iLife along with new Macs last week when I ordered, but when it arrived, no luck. So I went to Apple's website and filled in my Up-to-Daten form, paid my $20 and got iLife in the mail today.

If you're buying from Apple, you'll get it now. I picked up an iMac this week (ordered last) and it came with the dvd in the box, but not pre-installed. If you buy from a third party vendor, who knows how long the box has been sitting around, so you'd have to check with them.

iBook G3: 700 MHz, 12'', 30 GB, 640 RAM, AP

iPod Shuffle 512 MB

Well, actually, my iBook was a BTO that had to come from Apple, so my timing should have worked out to get the DVD/CD bundled, but somehow, not. It seems to me that I shouldn't have had to pay for it. I placed my order Jan. 14 on the hope that when the BTO was complete, they'd have iLife ready to go on the 22nd as announced. But it didn't quite work out.

Well, I ordered mine BTO on the 19th, so the time difference may explain it.
