There are a few parts in my Powerbook that I'd like to perhaps change, but am not sure what are a) good online Canadian stores for Powerbook replacement parts, and b) which parts I should get.

The first part I'd like to replace is the secondary fan, since I find it obnoxiously loud when it kicks in. What are some of the quietest available fans that can be used to replace the Powerbook's secondary fan?

The second part I'd like to replace is either my Superdrive, or my Superdrive's fan. Whenever I play CD's, I find my Superdrive to be quite loud, but not when I play DVD's. So is this the Superdrive's fan or just the drive itself that is loud when trying to play CD's?

The last part that I'm considering replacing is the Powerbook's screen. The colour and brightness are perfect, but there are some scratches that I've had since shortly after I bought it (that I attribute to how often the screen touches the keyboard). While these scratches don't bother me terribly, in the future I would consider replacing the screen if they were to get worse. What would prevent me from doing this is if I couldn't get the same type of screen since the colour/brightness are so good on the ghz Tibooks.

Since my AppleCare ran out last year, I'm not too concerned with voiding the warranty, though I will have my local reseller do the repairs. Any suggestions then on what parts I should look into and where I could purchase them?

That is the drive itself. Replacing it won't solve the problem, as all of those drives work the same. My old Lombard with combo drive was louder with a CD in it than with a DVD in it. The drive spins CDs much faster than it does DVDs, so that's why it's louder.

Get one of these, to prevent more of those scratches. I got one when I first bought my Titanium PB G4 and have never developed any of those scratches.

Hmm, I suspected that it was the drive itself, but there was the hope that maybe it was a part that could be replaced to make it more silent. Oh well.

Unfourtunately the small scratch on my screen happened either when I had received my Powerbook or a few days afterwards. It's very small and generally not noticable, but a screen protector has been on my mind for a while.

for the fan noise, I'd suggest lubricating them before replacing them, as that worked wonders for me with a "just cooler" auxiliary case fan on my desktop PC recently.

I had to peel a sticker back from the center axis of the fan to reach the shaft of the fan assembly, but one drop of oil cut the noise off completely.
