It might be a lame question, but I remember some issues with several ram modules before.
Is it OK to just add 1GB to an existing 512MB for a total of 1.5GB in a new 1.67GHz 'book?
What RAM do you guys recommend? Should I try to go for "original" Samsung
used by Apple or it won't matter?

You can by all means add a 1 GB DIMM and have a total of 1.5 GB of memory. As for the brand, a lot of people here will go to Crucial's or Kingston's website and pick out what they recommend for the particular model (Crucial, at least, already has the 17" 1.67 GHz PowerBook listed).

Too bad the 1GB sticks are so expensive. I bet most people will settle for 2X 512MB.
