I would have rather spent another $30 and got a refurbished pismo with DVD drive and adapter and battery.

depends on what you are going to be using it for.

I believe it will run panther just fine, and that panther would definately improve its performance....but with that small of hard drive you'll be severely limitied on doing just about anything, other than word processing/web surfing, but it should handle that very well.

As you can see by my signature I already have a regular everyday computer (1 Ghz iMac G4) I just wanted something I can use in class to take notes and work on stuff at school.
