ArsTechnica has a great community (not just Macintosh related)

I also am at the Cloudchaser forums (now it's modojo) and I'm really active in the budding Macintosh community which I'm proud to say, has almost doubled on my watch

Also, MacRumors and MSJ.

Don't forget as the apple turns. (http://www.appleturns.com/).
A fun spin on apple related news. The guy who is responsible for this site is just amazing!!!

Apple insider (http://www.appleinsider.com/) for rumours and other mac related issues.

Think secret. Excellent for rumours about new products. Most of the times his spot on.

That's all I can think of right now!

I have these pages set up to open as tabs in one Safari window:

http://www.appleinsider.com (Rumors! Best format, in my opinion.)

http://www.macosxhints.com (A forum where users post how-tos for MacOS X. So good it's worth a daily view.)

http://dealmac.com (Contains macintosh and non-mac items. My digicam came out in September. Within a month, Dealmac had an entry telling me where I could get the best price. Wow.)

http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/ (A very simple technical page. Useful for checking to see if a drive works with your mac, to see problems with security updates, or whatever else those readers decide to comment on.)

http://www.macrumors.com/ (MacRumors is good at grabbing the rumors from other good sites (such as the venerable thinksecret.com) and posting them in a nice format. It doesn't steal per se; it just tells you that there's a good rumor to read somewhere and summarizes it. I especially like its buyers' guide. Check it out.)

http://www.macosrumors.com/ (Why do I read this? I have no idea. The rumors here are so out there that hardly any can be believed. I think it's only in there because I haven't bothered to take it out yet.)

http://www.macintouch.com/ (Best of the best. If there is any technical mac site that you read, I recommend it be this one. It tracks issues readers run into (like xlr8yourmac), tracks new and updated software packages, and provides a very compact format.)

And of course there's macnn.

I cruise the MacWorld and sometimes MacAddict forums, but the best quickie overview of the Mac universe I've found is at MacSurfer. Be warned that it might consume more of your time per week than you think!

Not strictly Mac-related, but the Eurogamer forum (eurogamer.net) has a growing number of Mac users and we share all sorts of Mac-related info, not just gaming. I have over 15k posts over there (not with this nick), which is a bit of a sad indictment of my powers of concentration at the office, but the last couple of years has seen an astonishing growth in the number of Mac users on that forum - something of a snowball effect.

That's another nice thing over there, people don't jump down your throat if you go slightly off-topic.

Sorry to rain on your random forum parade, but me jumping in and keeping this thread bout PB's is why this forum is as simple and uncluttered as it is. Every topic has it's own forum, and if you want to learn about different places to visit about Mac's you should try the Lounge.

It's the same thing if I came in here and asked about how to connect my Wireless router to my PB, this topic should be posted in the networking forum. That's why MacNN doesn't suck.

For you tictactoe,

If I come here and ask about which firewire enclosure should I buy for my external HD to work with my POWERBOOK, it doesn't necessarily mean you should post it here vs. posting in the Peripherals Forum. Or even the example I used in my previous post. There are seperate forums that address specific topics, asking what other forums there are on the net hardly address' PB's when it comes to topic even though he used the word Powerbook in his post. That's why we have a lounge for off topic subject matter, and a Powerbook forum for Powerbook specific questions. If this wasn't the case I would care less but lets keep things in perspective. I frankly don't care and could easily ignore this but I threw out my 2 cents which I'm totally entitled to, I'm no Mod and I'm not trying to become one.
