I'm in the market for a new 15" PB cuz I'm selling by 12" PB to my significant other ... Are there any advantages to buying from an Apple Store rather than thru Apple's website? I've heard the newest builds can be found online ... but I figure I could check for missing pixels etc. and popped keys at the Apple store. I'm buying a 15" w/ 128 vram and 1g of ram in 1 stick. Can't decide about the larger hard drive. (If I had the space I'd use it.)

Buy it from an Apple store if you have one nearby. This way if any imediate defects are found, you can replace or return without a hassle.
MacBook Air, Mac OS X (10.7), 1.6 GHz, Core i5, 4GB 1333 MHz DDR3, 128 GB SSD, 24" LED ACD, 1TB Time Capsule (late 2009), IOS4 ATV, 16GB iPhone 4

Depends...If you have high sales tax in your state, you can save a significant amount by buying from MacMall or Amazon etc. on a $2000 Powerbook, that is $150 in sales tax where I live (San Diego). Most sites offer free shipping too. I have never had a problem with buying online. If you have a problem with your Powerbook, Apple's warranty will cover any defects. You can even take it to ANY local authorized Apple repair shop to be fixed, including the Apple Store.

My 2 cents

One obvious advantage comes in speed. Let me tell you: waiting for that new powerbook to arrive in the mail after you've spent $2500 on it is murder.

Yeah but they order it from Apple the same way you would order it online through Apple. So basically it's a middle man that is not really needed.
NOW YOU SEE ME! 2.4 MBP and 2.0 MBP (running ubuntu)

I ordered online from Apple's website last night. The closest Apple Store (San Francisco) said I'd have about a 7-date wait for all the upgrades I wanted, which seems odd since that's one of the highest traffic stores they have. (The Apple store in Las Vegas had no wait at all.) It probably still would have been faster to get it from a store, but I'm not in much of a hurry -- just enjoying my final days w/ my 12" PB before I turn it over to my girlfriend and she changes all the icons and makes it look like a Sanrio storefront.
