I have a 12" PB 1.33ghz, 1.25gb ram, 60gb, Combo drive that I bought 3 weeks ago (version that just got replaced) and I'm feeling like I should have gone with the 15" version.

Originally, I planned to just plug my laptop into my 17" LCD and bluetooth keyboard, wireless mouse, but I find myself doing that less and less. I find myself simply just using the laptop and while Expose/tabbed browsing make the 12" very usable, I'm thinking I may have been better off with the 15". I actually look/feel pretty silly using this little thing on my lap (I'm 6'3" 200).

So the outcome of this is that I may look to trade with someone who has a 15" with similar specs and maybe put up some cash as well. Anybody here interested in this? I'm going to post this offer up in the for trade section.

Now before someone screams offtopic , I wanted to ask what the battery life/heat dissipation is like on the 15" as compared to the 12" I'm getting roughly 4.5-5 hours right now with brightness turned down to the second lowest notch with Airport on and bluetooth off. Is the 15" comparable?

Thanks in advance

Here's the link to the for trade if anyone wants it: http://forums.macnn.com/showthread.p...57#post2399657

I'm feeling the same way you feel.
I picked up a great deal on a 12" Rev C Powerbook and it works great and all.. but i wish i went with the 15".
I was also looking for a trade, and decided to sell it instead.
If you decide to sell.. i think you might be taking a big loss...
Check out local apple stores to see if they do trades..

Good luck

I think you guys made the right decision. I bought a 15pb and i'm thinking maybe the 12 should have been the right buy. The 12 guy is more convenient as a laptop since it's very portable. It's more something you would bring to class or use on campus as a college student. I think that if there was a 13 or 14" pb that would be perfect. Both the 15 and the 12 are great models and I really don't think you should have much buyers' remorse.

Thanks for trying to reassure me . Do you take the 15" to classes? Is it really that much of a pain to lug around?

Hey I'm 6'4 200lbs and I don't feel silly at all when using this thing. I love the fact that it's small. Maybe you should check out the 12" PB owners unite thread, hopefully that'll let you see the light on why the 12" is such a great machine.

Dito here. 6'4 too, but 250lbs (the reason can be found in my footer) and heck, I don't feel silly using my 12". The fatter you are, the tinier your PB should be.

I have both a 15"Ti and a 12"AL PB and know what you mean.
I really like the screen size of the 15" and overall it is not too big even compared to many PC laptops I also have to use. In fact it is so much more cleanly designed I have no real problem carrying it around.

Then I got the 12" and all is even better.
I used to make a descision to carry the 15" or not depending on what I would possibly need. Now I don't even think about it,the 12"" is always in my bag and ready to go with me.
It doesn't make total sense until you have one but it does seem that much smaller and more convenient to have around than thhe 15".

I have adapted to the screen just fine and the keyboard is a lot better than on my Ti,so the Ti has become my desktop and the Al goes everywhere with me.

They will always come out with new ones and I try to look at that as an oppurtunity to buy an older one much cheaper.

Never look back!

3 Weeks is only a week past your return date; why don't you try and negotiate a return with the apple store? They are allowing me to return my 17" 3 weeks after purchase to upgrade to the new 17", but on the other hand I got approval while still within my 2 week period.

TicTacToe, lugging around a 15"pb isn't really a pain. It's just that it's not incredibly convenient. I mean it's a great laptop, but if I had a better desktop I would have gotten the 12". See I have this old pc as a dekstop so this 15 is both a desktop replacements as well as a portable computer. I do take my 15" to classes, but it's kinda hard to have a laptop, notebook and folder all on my desk. I find it great for sitting at the library since the school I go to is number one for wireless networks in the US. Step on campus and you've got wireless.

I find myself carring my 15" TiBook less and less these days. A 12" PowerBook or iBook is definately being considered for my next upgrade but I'd miss having gigabit ethernet.

I went from a 14" iBook to a 12" PB and the difference there in weight to carry around was amazing! Don't know how the 15" stacks up to the 14" in weight, but I am so much better off now! We travel a fair amount and I carry it in a sleeve in a standard backpack, and my shoulders really thank me for the lightweight 12"

No buyer's remorse here!

I was looking at upgrading from my current PB 12 Rev. B to a PB 15 Rev. D today. After walking into the Apple Store and seeing the 15 and comparing to my 12, I realized how much I like my 12. Now the whole option of getting a 15 is out the window and I will pick up a new 12 tomorrow,...and possible the 30" for the G5 at home.

I just moved up from a 12 to the 15 inch Powerbook. I love the 15 inch, but the 12inch was easier to handle.

I feel I juggle the 15inch more that I should.

Both great machines.

I just went from a 12" to the 15" two days ago and so far i'm loving it. It only weights 1 pound 2 or 3 ounces more than a 12" so don't worry about carrying it around if you have a bag that will fit it. It feels a lot better on my lap than the 12" did, but the screen doesn't have as wide a hinge, so i can't bend the screen back as far as before.

HOWEVER, some caveats,

-If you thought the battery life on the 12" wasn't good, then you will be sorely dissapointed becuase the 15" gets anywhere from 30 - 60 minutes less batterylife.
-If you own another computer like i do, get ready to stop using it. I feel like i wasted so much money on my desktop PC now becuase i just use my 15" everyday all day. I don't even turn on my desktop anymore and its only 1 year old. When i bought it it was top of the line, and now it just collects dust. I would not recommend the 15" as a secondary computer, only get it if it is going to be your main.

Heh Yao Ming is HUGE. I live in Katy Texas as well - only a few miles from him. A couple months ago I saw him at BestBuy (on Fry road) and I thought it was a giant or something. Then my friend told me it was Yao. There was a BestBuy employee asking him for his autograph, but other than that Yao was just looking at a few PS2 games. I didn't want to bother him so my friend and I just left. I never felt so short in my life.

I have a desktop PC and have stopped using it since i got my 12"

I turned it back on today and it worked fine for a bit. After installing a wireless network card, it won't boot up anymore (freezes at the Windows XP screen); Only safe mode works now. Now i have to backup everything and reformat the PeeCee.

I found myself a 15" Rev B 1Ghz w/1GB ram and that is on the way.
A little off-topic but; What would the going price for a 15" Rev B 1Ghz w/1GB ram be? Its not in the best condition (scratches on the outside, but that's about it).

I'll have a 15" Rev B and my 12" Rev C for a few weeks to compare before the 12" finds its way to a new home.

Keep you guys posted...

Hey, I know you feel. I spent a year deciding what I want. And when I got enough money to buy myself either a 12 inch or 15 inch, I decided to go with the 15 inch, just because it is not that efficient to unplug the monitor from my PC and then plug it in everytime I want more screen space. I figured I'm in high school, and I don't need to carry it to all my classes, so more screen space=better. Trust me, I had my heart set on a 12 inch Powerbook; I love the way it is so small, but the last 2 hours before I ordered it online were the hardest of my life. I knew I would be happy with either, but my common sense kicked in and I got a 15 inch. No regrets at all. If you need screen space without having to plug in a monitor, definitely go for the 15 inch, or maybe the 17.

You won't regret it. I am 6'5" 185lbs. I switched from the 12" to the 15" almost a year ago and have never regretted it. I don't know what I was thinking. You will love OS X on a bigger screen as well, it just feels right.

I don't know why you guys are scared about your laptops making you look to big... I'm 6, 3 and far from skinny, and I don't feel my PowerBook makes me any larger than I ever thought I was. OH well whatever, enjoy your 15 inchers.
