I would guess not, since the idea of sleeping is to cut power consumption.

If you are talking about the shuffle it doesn't seem to charge when hooked up to my 500MHz iBook.

My iPod mini charges and is usable when my iBook is asleep. It should work the same way with any of them, and the newer iBooks. I use firewire just so you know.

Understood. For my part, I'm interested in recharging my wireless mouse or Palm via USB.

I can't help you out there man sorry. My clie is like 2 or 3 years old and has to have a dock to charge so I can't check that. However if you were to get a usb to fire wire adapter I would bet money on it that that firewire port would continue to supply power. If it does it for the iPod I would think it would do it for the palm or mouse too.

I can charge my imate JAM while the ibook is asleep without any problems.

When I hook up my LED light to the USB port, it works even when the iBook is asleep. Therefore, power is still available.

ACSA 10.4/10.3, ACTC 10.3, ACHDS 10.3
