Hi, my friend overseas wants me to pick him up a 512 MB RAM for his G4 933 MHz while I'm here in the states. What type and how much are they?

Thanks for your help!

check out www.newegg.com The usually have good prices and you will want pc2100 or pc2700. I have the same iBook and have 1GB of PC2700. it was cheaper than the PC2100 so I got that. It comes with PC2100 in it from apple.
Bless those that sacrifice for us all.

What's the diff between 144 and 200 pin?

Any suggestions on what to get for a 512 MB?

200 pin SODIMMs are what fit in the G4. The 144 pin SODIMMS are a different type of RAM. G4s use "DDR" RAM or "double data rate" RAM. Earlier computers, like the G3 iBook, use 144 pin units.

I recent bought the 200-pin KingMax 1GB SO-DIMM from newegg.com for my brand-new 12" iBook and it works great. For about $200, I feel like I got a very good deal, and man -- the iBook absolutely flies when the RAM is maxxed out like that.
