i got a new PB for my sister a 2 days ago and aside from the 1 red pixel which is stuck there was another problem, the "up arrow" key wasn't fully attached to the keyboard. i couldn't get it in so i left it sticking out like it came.

now it comes out if i use it a lot.

my question is what will apple do? i'd hate to not have this computer for a long time so they can send it in for repairs. its a BRAND NEW powerbook too.

do the replace the whole keyboard? does it involve cracking open the case?

(also can they do anything about the dead pixel. its annoying.)

thanks

1 dead pixel isn't enough for a replacement. You could do a search on "massaging dead pixels" and see if that works.

For the keyboard, it depends on the problem rather it's replaced or fixed. Still, I'd take it in sooner than later. You might have a better chance of it being replaced in full than just fixed.

does replacing the keyboard involve taking apart the entire case? or did you mean they would replace the powerbook?

thanks.

I'd take it in and complain about both problems being very ignorant to the fact that they wont do anything for the screen, and I'm sure if you play your cards right you'll get a new machine.
