Hey Everyone,

Just recently I noticed that the F12 button will no longer eject a CD out of the slot-loading drive. Does anybody know why? Is there a preference that was changed? I know the key is working, because when i press and hold it it makes the bleeping noise that occurs when a key is pressed but it does not have a command to complete. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Did you recently upgrade to 10.3.8? It seems that some people are having the same problem. I don't have a solution for you though - I upgraded to 10.3.8 and my button still works fine. Weird.

Can you still get the disc out by going to Go->Computer (Command-Shift-C), clicking on the disc, and dragging it to the Eject Dock item (the Trash Can turns into this) or selecting File->Eject or pressing Command-E?

In case you care and if it's applicable here the emergency procedure for ejecting a disc when the drive is unresponsive (ejecting from the Finder doesn't work and F12 doesn't work) is rebooting while holding down the mouse or touchpad button.

Voch

I did just update to 10.3.8 a couple days ago. I can get the disk out by pressing command-e/dragging it to the trash can/file->eject, but holding F12 doesn't work. It doesn't even show the eject icon on screen when I hold the button down. I guess this must be a 10.3.8 problem.

Is there anyway to fix it? How can I go back to 10.3.7 and then reinstall 10.3.8? Do you think repairing the permissions again would help? I repaired the permissions before and after updating to 10.3.8. Thanks for your help.
