Sometimes when I plug the power cord back into the PB, it wakes up without opening the screen. Is this normal?

It also wakes up with the lid closed if there is an external monitor attached

Mine doesn't. But I wonder: do you have different power settings for battery and power cable states that would trigger a wake? Set them identical and see if the problem goes away.

I do have different settings for battery and power, but why would this cause it to wake when plugged in?

See, that's just it. I don't know. The computer's going to wake under certain conditions. Some of those conditions are configurable in that preference pane. So I thought of it first.

Once, long ago, my iBook would wake when I would unplug it from the wall. That went away when I updated to whatever the next system update was at the time.

When I've experienced this it has been related to plugging in/unplugging USB devices.

The USB wake thing happened to me back on my Pismo, that's nothing new for me.

My new 1.67 GHz book wakes on power connect, which is not normal (as far as I can tell.) I need to look through the service manual again to see if this is a changed behavior or an OS setting that can be changed. None of my previous AlBooks (1.0 GHz 12", 1.25 GHz 15", and 1.5 GHz 15") had this behavior.

It's a feature, not a bug.

I've noticed that the PowerBook wakes up on power connect for two reasons:
• USB connect/disconnect (like everybody here is mentioning)
• while sleeping (w/o power) BT devices were used

My BT keyboard and mouse can wake my sleeping PowerBook and they actually do, when it's plugged into AC power. If the PowerBook is sleeping w/o AC power (in closed-lid mode) they don't wake the PowerBook (which is right IMHO), but upon plugging power into the PowerBook, it will wake up immediately.
