Can I plug my Apple speakers into my 12" PB?

When I use the PB to watch DVD's on a television, how do I get better sound? I have those round speakers on my iMac, can I just plug those into the headphone jack or will they not fit? Sorry, not home right now so I can't check.

If not, what's the best solution to get the sound to external speakers or to the television?
