Hey guys. This is a true emergency. I am in the middle of my work for essays that I have to hand in for getting allowed to my exams. Yesterday I launched an update of all the programs. However, for hours, it was blocked "Mac OS X Update Installtion - Installation complete" and then... nothing. It just stood like that for hours and hours. So I thought **** it and switched it off. Now when I turn it on, I get so far until the blue screeen that appears before you enter the Desktop but it doesnt. The screen just turns black and flickers. HELP ME GUYS!!!

Sounds like you are having the same problem that i'm having. Did your screen freak out with lines on it and stuff? It sounds like your logic board is gone. I'm going to have to call Apple this morning to see about getting my shipped off to get a new one.
If you don't have extended Applecare on your ibook, then you need to hurry up because the Logic Board Replacement Program ends around March 15th I think.
I'm sure they will extend it again, but i don't know if it will be immediately or not!

Yeah, sounds like a logic board issue. I've had to have the logic board in mine replaced twice with similar symptoms, so that's probably what's going on for you. Not sure if Apple has fixed the problems with the replacements they're using, though. The third one in my iBook has lasted 10 months so far...I guess we'll see in another half a year.

you might try to press down hard on the left palmrest area as you use the computer. Someitmes this will keep the video problems form happening. You might be able to get it to run long enough to print something or copy a file. I vise of c-clamp also works fine.
