I finally have purchased a powerbook after a long time of saving and waiting. I recentlly picked up a 12 incher with a combo-drive. Besides being one of the best machines I have ever used, I am having a problem with the disc drive.

I have a burned DVD+R of some back-up files. The disc can be read by a rev. a and c pb and a G5 iMac, but not my powerbook. When I put the disc in the drive, it clicks a few times, spins, and then does not eject or read the disc. I called Applecare and they said, it was probably a poorly burned disc. They could not explain why it worked on other machine. Also, my computer does read other burned dvds (-r and +r).

I went to an apple store and put the cd in another rev. d 12 in. pb. The disc was not read by that machine either.

Any ideas? Anyone else notice this problem?

Thanks,

Nick

An obvious question is which software/computer did you use to burn this DVD.

I've seen it happen before where some machines will read a disk but others won't. Maybe try another burn and see if the new machine will see that one.

Try using a -R disc instead. A lot of drives don't like +R, let alone +R/DL discs.
