Hi
I am upgrading my old 667MHz TiBook for a new 1.5GHz AlBook of the new lineup after the TiBook's CD-ROM drive failed for the 3rd time (and I don't use it much).

While waiting for the AlBook to come (it's still in Shanghai), I am trying to sort out if I can use the spare power adapters I bought from DevDepot (non-Apple-make) for the old TiBook or not.

My questions are wattage, and whether you trust them.

I had always thought the older TiBook needed 45Watt adapters and that the new ones need 60 watt adapters. The adapters I purchased from DevDepot however state 2.5 Amps, 20-25 volts, which sounds like 55-60 watts. So do I need to buy new "extra" power adapters for the new AlBook? Or was my old TiBook at 60 watt machine too?

Incidentally, some people have told me that despite the big price savings, I should only use Apple-branded adapters. Any thoughts on that?

I think the TIs (other than the 1ghz) used the 48 watt adaptor and new ones use a 65.

Third party should be ok as long as it matches your machine's needs.
