Hello all

Still a newbie, or even more i still havent recieved my new 15" PB. I am readying myself for my first apple and i was wandering whether you can use the trackpad like the ipod wheel to scroll through pages (moving your finger in a circular motion on the trackpad). Also, i once saw a friend using the trackpad to right click by tapping a predefined area of the trackpad, can this be used on the new PBs?

Thank alot

PS: i bought my PB from amazon, and i just saw now that they have $200 and $150 rebates on the 17" and 15" new PBs respectively. I cant apply for the rebate since i bought mine a week ago :-(

If you're getting one of the new Rev. D Powerbooks, then yes- the PB can scroll via the trackpad out-of-the-box, no extras needed. Note that you do need to scroll with 2 fingers and point with just one.

If you're getting an older Rev. C Powerbook- then yes it is possible via iScroll2, a freeware driver that somebody has made. It will work on most older PB's, if you look in this forum you will see a thread relating to this issue. I use this and it works great, although the circular scrolling is not as smooth as the regular up/down/side scrolling.

As for the right click- I don't think the new PB's can do it- only older ones with iScroll2 can do it- perhaps there is another program that your friend is using to do it as well.

My guess is that your friend is using sidetrack, which allows you to scroll using the sides/top/bottom edges of the track pad. It also allows right click and other programable functions on the corners via tapping. It's a $15 shareware program and worth every single penny and then some...
