Hey guys,

I feel silly asking this because I think I should know the answer...

How do I remap the F9 and F10 keys on my 17-inch PowerBook to be used for Exposé, instead of keyboard illumination? I'd like to use the fn modifier key for the keyboard brightness. Any clues? Thanks-a-bunch!

I've been meaning to ask the exact same thing because this is driving me nuts on my new Powerbook and I haven't been able to find a solution.

I have the same question ... my old 12" PB didn't have keyboard illumination, and although I like the mood lighting effect I don't need quick access to it. For that matter, I don't need quick access to the screen brightness either. I'd like to re-program all these F keys.

In the Keyboard and Mouse preference pane, check "Use the F1-F12 keys for custom actions." This will reverse it so that you have to press fn to get the PowerBook-specific functions.

That works great. But is there any way to keep the volume buttons where they are and not have to push fn? I want to remap all the F keys except the volume keys

thanks for the help
