I did a serach but didn't find anything specific to this topic. I found lots of hits about booting off a CD on the Pismo, but my problem is a bit different. As of yesterday, my CD drive on my pismo stopped working. It spins & spins, but won't recognize any discs, including previously recognized ones. My wife put a disc in a couple of days ago that was a windows Powerpoint file. (the disc opened fine on my ibook) The disc just spun & spun & spun, until she finally just had to remove it. That was the last thing that happened before the drive stopped working (or maybe the first time it didn't work) Anyways, any advice on how to fix this, or is it just time to find a new drive?

My Pismo DVD drive died in 2001, about a week after the warranty expired. Luckily I was able to pick up another one off of a dead Lombard from a company where I did some consultant work for. That one still works.

I took the old drive chassis and put a CD drive from an iMac into it. The bezel didn't fit perfectly. All of this is detailed here.here
