Weird issue--I've misplaced one of the "plugs" for a PowerBook power adapter. i have the long cord, but the small "plug" is missing...does anyone know of anyplace where I can buy just the plug?

If you are near a retail store, a Mac Genius may be willing to order a replacement part for you. I don't think they're very expensive, and I've seen most of them as pretty agreeable if you are nice about it. Otherwise, you can always call AppleCare and see if they'd mail you one for whatever it costs.

In Europe, you can only get them as part of a six-piece "World Travel Adapter set", which is €40. This is partly to discourage people from buying their 'books and 'Pods abroad.
Suggestion in such a situation: Get a razor cable for $2.
(Just mentioned it since we're sort of on-topic.)

What is a razor cable?
And no, this isn't the plug protector--this is the plug that fits into the wall, which (in the version used in the US) has two prongs that fold out. That's the part that's missing.

Apple calls it a "duck head". An Apple-authorized service center may be able to order one, but you can definitely buy it (along with 5 others to fit the entire world) as the $40 Apple World Traveler Adapter Kit.
Or yes, a standard "figure 8" plug boombox or shaver power cord works just fine, it's just ugly!
Or go to an Apple store and ask them; they might have a spare one lying around.

my apologies, some of the more obscure technical terms aren't part of my daily English-language repertoire.
In German, it's just called "Rasiererkabel" - shaver (razor) cable.
