I know this post could equally belong in periphials or software, however it is the opinion of powerbook owners that use these items I'm after.

I have a 12" powerbook, I need to be able to use it to connect to the consoles of Cisco/SUN kit.

I'm aware a few different options excist, if anyone has any experience of using thes eitems I'd appreciate their opinions.
Also what software do you use - I'd like to use minicom through the terminal, but am unsure how the tty association will function.

I have searched the forums and haven't found anything directly relevant.

Thanks up front for those that take the time to respond.

Not sure exactly what you want to do, but a Keyspan serial adapter and Zterm (as well as the appropriate serial cable) are all you need for any type of serial communication.

Get a Keyspan serial adapter. I wouldn't mess with any of the others. Keyspan's drivers work quite well.

As for use with minicom, it will show up as a device in /dev just like a normal serial port. It has a big long ugly name, but you should be able to use it with any UNIX program that uses a serial port, unless it's hard-coded to ttya or something like that (though I suppose you could always make a symlink)...

I picked up an iconcepts usb-serial adapter at a local compusa for the same uses. Everything seems to work fine, except for sending a break to get into OpenBoot on Sun servers. Anyone with the keyspan adapter ever have this type of issue? I've tried it with minicom and zterm with no luck.
