just picked up a wallstreet used and after having up an running for a couple of hours I shutdown and attempted to power back up. It doesnt. Boohoo. By pressing the power button I get a quick "hiss pop" <--sounds like the normal sound/click when you first turn on power to any laptop really... but then the Green power indicator never comes on and its goes dead within a split second. If I do a <fn><ctrl><shift>, or whatever reset operation. The green light turns green and the HD whirls on.but in never really gets booted up and as soon as I let go of the buttons, the laptop turns off.

Any suggestions as to how I should attack this problem? I understand there is a known problems with the sound/DCin board and the PMU board...Given the description of my problem, can anyone tell me what it sounds like?

Thanks
Debaser

Dead PMU ? Anyway, you can always try to unplug it and remove the main battery for some time (how much I don't know exactly, one night may be sufficient), just to drain the backup battery. Then put everything in place and try to restart.

Yes, the PRAM battery, not the regular (main) one.

Good. Here is a detailed guide on how to take apart a Wallstreet Powerbook.
