I noticed on my new PowerBook that since yesterday my pulsing sleep light isn't working properly. In the mean time I've seen it pulse when the PowerBook is running, I've seen it on (but not pulsing) when the PB is running, and worst of all, I've seen it stay off even when the PowerBook is sleeping. So basically the light is doing everything, but always at the wrong time.

I tried a PRAM and PMU reset, but not change. Since it sometimes still comes on I know it's not the light that's broken. I've tried rebooting, sleeping, closing and opening the lid, closed-lid mode, etc. but there seems to be no reproducible pattern.

Any ideas what's going on and how to fix it?

I hope it's software. I don't really like the idea of sending it in. I need it for work and travel a lot with it. I don't want to be w/o it for a week or two. OTOH I think after paying $2500 a two weak old PowerBook shouldn't have these kinds of problems.

Whoa....two new topics in one day, atta boy Simon , I don't know what the culprit could be but maybe an Archive and Install is in order. It's a tough pill to swallow when you cough up that much just to get a faulty PB. Keep us informed if anything changes, or any fixes develop, I'm really curious to what it could be.
NOW YOU SEE ME! 2.4 MBP and 2.0 MBP (running ubuntu)

Well, an archive and install didn't do the trick.

Maybe the funky stuff showing up in my Console has something to do with it...
