Since I'm having problems with my sleep light, I decided to reset my PMU. I found out in the process that the new 1.5 GHz and 1.67 GHz 15" and 17" PowerBooks have a new PMU reset procedure.

From: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.h...um=14449#faq11
PowerBook G4 (15-inch 1.67/1.5GHz), PowerBook G4 (17-inch 1.67GHz)
• If the computer is on, turn it off.
• Disconnect the AC Adapter and remove the computer's battery.
• Press and hold down the power button for 5 seconds and then release the button.
• Reconnect the battery and AC Adapter.
• Press the Power button to restart the computer.
Interestingly though, I initially tried the PMU reset procedure that worked on my old 12" PowerBook because I didn't know there was a new procedure for the new PowerBooks. I turned off the PB, pressed shift-opt-cmd-power and immediately the PB beeped, the front sleep light quickly blinked three times and the PowerBook booted. I have no idea what that was. The boot was normal and the PRAM or PMU had obviously not been reset because no settings were lost.

Apple's KB articles didn't mention anything about that key combo. Any ideas what that was?

That's very interesting to note. I wish I knew what the key combo meant but I don't. I'm just glad that I caught this before telling new PB owners how to reset their PMU.
NOW YOU SEE ME! 2.4 MBP and 2.0 MBP (running ubuntu)
