hey all....

my friend was given an old pismo powerbook, and he wants to try and get it using a wirless connection. he has like no money, so i'm wondering what the cheapest way to do this is.

are there cheap, reliable pc cards that will let him use wifi? or is getting an airport card the only way to do it?

if it is possible, do you have any reccomendations? cheap and reliable is best.

thanks

- matt

p.s. he has 10.3 on the machine.

A regular PCMCIA card should work if it has a chipset that the Mac supports.

You can usually find them for $15-20 after rebate at CompUSA.

Make sure that the card you buy has MacOS support. The average card at CompUSA (or anyother big box store) won't likely have many, if any, that do. You're probably looking at an Asante or Orinoco card for the best support. They're usually a little more (not too much) than a regular card, but the biggest trick will be finding one.
