Gang, I need FAST HELP here as it's the final day of the logic board extension program that I'm nearly certain I qualify for. I just got off the phone with Apple tech support and they believed the problem to be a backlight issue when, in fact, based on everything I've read, the problem stems from a faulty logic board. This has been going on for many months, but I've only recently looked into the free repair program. Anyway, I've noticed that my screen dims and comes back, dims and comes back, etc (and oftentimes just stays dim for hours). It lasts for many minutes at a time in each direction. I also have a line on the upper left-hand quadrant of my screen that's about four inches long. Apple had me reset the power manager and then boot into the system disc. No luck. Apple believes the problems to be related to the display and backlight and said that they didn't fall into the logic board extension program. Is there anything I can do? Today's the LAST DAY of the program! I'd really love to get this machine fixed (Dual USB iBook). HELP!
Let's show 'em why Macworld 2003 won't be like Macworld 2002.

In truth it does not sound like the logic board symptoms that I suffered. Remember that the programme ends 18th march OR 3 years after first purchase - whichever offers longest cover for you.

So if it is less than 3 years old then I think the programme still applies tomorrow and the next day etc.

But, you really need to have an engineer look at it - do you have a local dealer who you could run the machine over to ?

Good Luck

Doesn't sound like the logic board issue. Most probably the famous inverter cable with the reed switch which is damaged (not covered by the logic board repair program).

To qualify for the logic board repair program, you need to have the same issue when you use the iBook on an external display.
