Probably a stupid question, but hey - I'm a Mac rookie...

Sorry, very green with Macs (just got mine a few days ago - my first ever, other than a MessagePad 120 - remember those?!). Anyway, I'm looking at getting an MP3 device, but the ones I've looked at all say they require "Win P133 or better" or crap like that. Are these plug-n-play with Macs as well? I just don't know any of this stuff, sorry...

What kind of storage are you looking for on your MP3 player? I'd say get an iPod, I love mine. Just keep it out of varying temperatures...My screen cracked and the screen's aren't under warranty :|. They cover just about any size you could want..512mb, 1gb, 4gb, 6gb, 20gb, 30gb, 40gb, and 60gb. I didn't pay too much attention to the last release and price changes of the iPods so there may have been some added or discontinued that I missed.

Thanks folks, I appreciate the input. I am considering an iPod (a mini, to be precise), I'm just not convinced that is the best option for what I need. I am looking for something with decent memory, but more important is usability for exercise. Specifically, I want something to use when running (inside and out), and cycling.
I suppose the minimum I need is something to hold a couple hours, so a 128mb would do. But more would be nice so I don't have to download whenever I want to change stuff up a bit, you know?
How good would a mini be for my applications? Honestly, my ideal would be to get a shuffle, but I want to be able to put things in the order I want, and change/fast forward as I want). Call me OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder) but I like to have control, and I like predictability - when running outside, I do the same route, and I like going by the songs to know where I should be, and how I'm doing compared to previous workouts. Just something I like...
So, I was looking at an MP3 player with 256 or more, but if you folks can convince me to go iPod Mini instead, I'd probably go for it.
Any thoughts? Sorry for being long-winded, I'm just having fun typing on my new (to me) Powerbook 12" that I just got 5 days ago from this website (man, I am falling in love with Apple - why didn't I make this switch sooner?!).

It sounds like the iPod Shuffle would be perfect for you. Shuffle is simply a mode; you can turn it off if you want predictability.

Really? So I assume I can put them in the order I want, and then play them that way? If that can work, that may be the best option. Is it better than other MP3 players with similar memory, though? Just wondering if there is any sort of difference between it and a different MP3 player.
Thanks.

Absolutely.

The biggest difference between the Shuffle and competing flash players is that the Shuffle lacks a screen, but we've been through that issue in a number of other threads. In short, most of us iPod-o-philes feel that a screen is indeed unnecessary because of the nature of the device:
1. Limited storage.
2. Meant to be used by the physically active user.
3. Extremely small size.
Walkmans and portable CD players don't display song info, and yet few people complain about this when using them.
The iPod's biggest advantage over the other players is in its unparalleled integration with iTunes. The price is quite reasonable as well.
