Whenever I insert a CD-ROM disc that has a label applied to its face (the full-face labels you can get at Office Depot to ID your discs with), the drive will sound like hell and then grind to a halt. Ejecting becomes a chore.

Is the Superdrive slot so tight that the thickness of a piece of paper causes it to jam?

I get this as well with my imac, it makes this horrible sound and ejecting is a pain - i think we inserted in a poorly attached graphic.
I have heard a lot of other stories mentioning the same symptons

My drive makes a horrible noise when you insert CDs (I thought I'd broken something the first time), but it works fine otherwise.

A sticker label on the face of the CD? I avoid those at all costs. If not applied completely perfectly centered they'll wobble inside the drive. I don't even use those in my tray loading drives in my PC.

Oh, I hear you. The ones in question were made by me using one of those kits which perfectly center the label. It was applied properly, but DAMN it makes a racket.

Yes, ejecting is a PITA, too!

Nice to know it's not just me. One of my little ones stepped on my PB a few weeks back, and the CD slot actually got bent a hair. I've straightened it out, and the ONLY problems I've had are labeled CD's. (I can't remember if I had the problem pre-child-step, but I think I did.)

Okay. No labeled CD's for me, then!
