Hi,
I've just had my 15" G4 PB repaired. This took a little over 1 month.
The screen has been replaced due to some dead pixels and problems with the hingis sticking/making a bad sound whenever opening/closing the screen.
I am glad I convinced the service provider here in Denmark to replace the screen still on the warrenty.
BUT I have now noticed that the PB doesn't go to sleep mode when I close the screen down, and this used to work with the old screen.

Have anyone else had a problem like this, and is there a setting somewhere I can set to make it go to sleep when closed??
I hope I don't have to send it of to repairs again, especially if it takes one month again..

Sounds like they forgot a part. There is small magnet that activates a reed switch when you close the lid. They probably forgot to reinstall the magnet or possibly didn't connect the reed switch back up when they put your PB back together.

Now that I check the repairshop-papers it actually looks like it was repaired on a monday... So I am afraid you might be right, damn!
It wasn't funny to be without a home computer for that long, but if they forgot something they better get it back ASAP.

Has anyone else had this kind of bug, for instance with a new PB that didn't go to sleep?

Just been on the phone with Apples local service provider.
She asked me to try place a magnet on the trackpad to test whether the sleep-switch in the machine was working. Apparently a magnet in the screen activates the switch under the trackpad when closed.
I was promised a new screen once more, and that it would be repaired ASAP. They would call me when the screen arrives and she promised that the hinges (still cracking a little) would be checked once more.

So it seems my problem will be solved now. Pretty good service after all :-)
