When running some programs, I can hear a high-pitched noise coming from the PowerBook. This seems crazy to me, but it's real. The most concrete example I've found is when running a VNC client, connecting to a server computer. Then the noise starts until the session ends.

Anyone have any idea what could cause this?
MacBook Pro 15" -- 2.2Ghz, 4GB, 200GB 7200rpm
iPod Nano 2G -- 8GB

I believe the noise is related to the CPU being set to "highest" in Power settings, or if in "auto", the cpu being kicked in to "Highest" when doing CPU intensive tasks. Try reducing CPU performance and see if the sound goes away. I am pretty sure it will. All newer powerbooks do this. It's normal, though sligthly annoying when in a quiet location.
