Hi All.

Could you tell me where I can have my iBook G3 800 repaired (Dead LB/video)? Would they do it at Apple? I actually can not see any other place...
Would they sell me a LB so I could change it myself and would the LB has 1 year warranty?

http://www.apple.com/support/ibook/faq/

They pay for everything if the problem is the logic board issue. They send out a box to ship it back to them in about 3 days (I got mine the next day). You put the iBook in the box like the instructions show, rip off the first shipping label to get the to the next one which is the location of the repair center and send it off. Easy enough. It took them 1 day to fix and ship my iBook back to me. It's been working great since the repair.

Or 3 years after the first retail purchase. Which ever of the two provide longer coverage for you. I'd call Apple and see if they can help you.

When did you get your iBook?

Yes the program ened March 18th but let's say John buys a iBook with a serial number in the range of serial numbers known of have the logic board problem on March 1st, 2005. Then on March 19th his iBook has the logic board problem. Now would it make sense for Apple to cut him off? No. They know the problem is there. It says 3 years or March 18th, 2005 which ever provides the longest coverage for you. So in John's case 3 years not 17 days. Imagine that a few other iBook owners who so far have been lucky and not had the problem now all of a sudden have it. Apple would have a lot of mad people if they said oh sorry but your iBook should've done that a month ago or 5 days ago or whatever the time frame may be.

Or say Sally bought her iBook G3 exactly 3 years from March 18th, 2005. On March 19th her iBook dies. Sally is out of luck. Apple would look up the serial number and see the iBook was purchased 3 years ago and being a day late for the problem to be fixed by them.

It took a year and almost a half for mine to have the logic board problem. When I called the guy said I was out of phone support but that he would at least hear what I had to say and go from there. Once I told him it was the logic board problem he said no problem they'll fix it (this was March 14th btw). It wouldn't hurt to call them up and see if they fix it. If they won't, guess that's a bummer and either find a logic board somewhere else or get a new iBook.
