I've had it up and running for about 30 mins? Where do I start? What should I do first? I need to transfer all my mp3's, pictures, and videos. How should I go about this? Thanks for anyone who helps out

where and from what are you transferring your videos/photos/music?

you could open iphoto and itunes and just drag everything into them, and since they use their own folder structure they will copy everything into your home folder for you.

you can put your movies into your Movies folder.

otherwise, just enjoy the powerbook.

First thing you need to do is strip naked and run around the block. It's a ritual every PB owner must participate in

After you are done with that, go here:

http://www.efelix.co.uk/tech/3001.html

That'll tell you how to get connected to your Windows machine. Grab everything you need, as you won't be seeing much of your old computer in the future!

if they are behind a router, they should each have a semi static ip address.

go to system prefernces
network icon

the ip address of the mac should be in the "built in ethernet" text.

on windows there is a way to do that as well but i am not sure of the exact steps.

in windows xp/2000/2003/nt:
start > run > cmd > ipconfig /all

windows 95/98/me:
start > run > command > ipconfig /all
or
start > run > winipcfg

If you have firewire on PC.

Start Powerbook in Firewire target mode (restart PB while holding down T key)

Then copy files to PB.... musch faster!

Dude, that was so much fun...got some weird looks tho. There must not be anyother powerbook owners around me.

As for transfering stuff, just share a folder on your PC and access it from your powerbook. that's how I got all my stuff onto my new powerbook. Pretty simple.
