i am not sure if this was covered before but i have a question about sharing internet connection. currently my ibook supplies the internet connection to my xbox. the ibook is going through my wireless network. if i was instead to be getting internet connection through a phone line, could i turn on appletalk and share connection to another laptop, happens to be dell? thanks.

To me it seems you should add a ethernet hub or switch to your wireless network if you can. Like the Airport base station for example you should simply add the hub/switch to the base station via ethernet cable. Then with another ethernet cable you could get the dell working with your internet connection.

Or another option is getting a wireless adapter for the dell laptop. Either PC card or USB wireless adapter should work just fine.

For the phone line I assume you mean DSL. Adding a router with built-in switch/hub to that would work too.

A better place to ask is in the Networking Forum.

Yes, you probably can share the connection through your AirPort card or an ethernet cable to any other computer (depending on what kind of networking equipment the other computer has, of course). The real question is how useful would a shared dialup connection be? I would think taking turns would be more efficient.
