There were once four people named Everybody, Somebody, Nobody and Anybody. Somebody had to do a job, but Nobody wanted to do it. Nobody could see that Anybody could do it, and Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job. Nobody ended up doing it, and it so happened that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

Over at the mac rumors buying guide they recommend buying now seeing as the line was just updated. Some people think that the first version of Tiger mighth have some kinks to be worked out in the begining as well. "If you need it now then get it now" was some advice given to me when i was in your same shoes. I got it, and couldn't be happier. my 15" is rock solid and i love osx, I will continue to use it well after the introduction of Tiger.

No dead pixles, no funky track pad issues, just a really good machine. I wonder if dead pixles happen over time though. I also wonder if the screen becoming darker in corners happens over time as well.... Guess i will have to try and do a better search here in the forum. Did you get your dead pixle issue solved?

when did you buy?

I am wondering if apple has started shipping a mini rev to solve the trackpad issues on the 15"

we know they did for the 12" already.

I bought my new 15inch (1.67mhz) the same week they came out. I have no dead pixels or trackpad issues (and I use the new scroll feature a lot). I added another 512 meg memory stick and I'm rockin and rollin..

Great Machine, Enjoy.

I ordered my BTO 15" PB on March 22nd i think and it came by FedEx by March 30th. I'm glad i didn't wait.. I was going to wait till Tiger was going to be released ... but i just couldn't wait..

To wait for the Tiger release.. it would easily add another month of waiting..

I have made my decision...

I will be driving to the Apple store on Friday afternoon (or late morning), and buying my 17" with my wife's educational discount. I am scanning and printing her drivers license to bring with me (I wish I could bring the real one, but she will need it this weekend).

My logic is as follows (and PLEASE don't anyone correct this if it is flawed!):

The amount of money I am saving is about $49 by waiting until the release, since my wife can get the educational price (assuming it is the same as Panther - $69). If I get the "free" one, it will still cost me about $20 shipping.

I am willing to spend an extra $49 if it gets me the PB a week or two earlier. I will be able to spend quality time getting the hang of it while she is away this weekend.

P.S.: Everyone can thank me later when they announce Tiger on Monday.

Thanks to all in these forums for their help.

Jeff

i forgot your edu discounts... sounds like a good deal.

my friend is trying to convince me to go 17" instead of 15"

but i keep telling him i am hooking this up to a apple 20" lcd when i am home but when i go out to work the 15" seems fine to me...

I actually received a 17 inch PB and had it for a few weeks until it was RMA'd with a bad trackpad. When I replaced it I got the 15 inch PB because the 17 inch did not have the same elegant "feel" that the 15 inch size has. IMO.
