I have a friend who just bought a NEW 12" iBook (he forgot to get the student discount, though).
However, he did not upgrade his RAM...so I am advising him to do so...so my question is, what type of RAM modules are the new iBooks running (PC 2700? PC 2100?).
I *believe* it's PC 2700, but I am not 100% certain, and I don't want to have him order the wrong thing.
Also, if anyone has a recommended place for him to purchase the module from, please tell. Otherwise I was just going to use pricegrabber.
Peace,
O
B unce!

The iBooks use PC2100 DDR memory. Up to 1.25GB.

You can use a faster rated RAM with no problem and then keep it for a new PB if you ever trade up. Also there are two people selling 512mb SO-DIMM chips for the ibook in the market place for $60 shipped.

Any brand will do. I use Kingmax which I bought from NewEgg. I've never heard of the brand, so I basically just based my choice on the reviews on their page which was positive, and I couldn't be happier.
The one you linked looks like it has positive review. But I'd say if you were gonna go with an off brand memory, I'd go for something with more references and reviews to it.

i just bought a 512 stick off Crucial... it's a Samsung chip, which i have every faith in.
my previous Apple-installed 512 stick was made by Hynix... and it went sour after about 4 months... though i didn't know it till much later.
