If i want to hook up my powerbook to an external display, like the Apple Cinema thing or another flat panel display, will i see a performance drop if i only use the external display rather than powerbook display or both?

I have a 30 inch connected to my 17 inch PB w/128MB video. No noticable difference at all...actually..it spectacular. Great for gaming and DVD authoring.

Aloha.

My 20" seems to run just as fast as the built-in 15" on my PB 1.67.
