When I connect to the internet using the built in modem it will drop the connection after 10 minutes or so. Even sooner if the computer is idle. Is this an ibook problem or something wrong with the server I am dialing into?

Your ISP probably disconnects you after inactivity to keep people who fall asleep reading their email from locking up one of their modems. It's not a big deal, just don't leave the thing idle. I don't recall where it is, but somewhere there's an option to keep your connection alive...

I wouldn't go so far as to blame the ISP. I seem to remember reading somewhere that a lot of people were complaining about the modem in the iBooks, that it does lots of stuff like you were saying, dropping connecntions.

I've never really used mine except for sending some faxes so I don't know how well it works, but you might want to keep that in mind. Do you have a USB modem you could try?
