I have a Rev. C 15" PB. Had it since september.

For the second time in 2 days, I have experienced a strange problem with my sound. What happens is sound is now extremely quiet- quieter than it should be. Adjusting the volume to max does not help.

Also, the volume slider is funny in that it will take a long time (2-3 secs) to move the volume slider a notch. For example say I am at 3 bars from full volume. If I press the volume up key repeatedly, I will get a faint popping noise and the volume will go up by 1 bar. It will take about 2 secs to do this. I will then hear the noise again and it will go up by 1 bar again, and repeat.

Normally, I could just hold the volume up key and since my keyboard repeat rate is at max the volume can go from full min to full max in about 3 secs. This no longer happens.

The first time I encountered this (yesterday) I do not know what triggered it. I inserted my Rise of Nations CD and started the game, and found that I had no sound. I quit out of the game and found that I had no sound in any app. Previously, my PB had been reporting about 20 days uptime. I attributed it to maybe being on for too long and rebooted. Sound was fine.

Then today I was watching a video in VLC and I think part of the video file was corrupt because it crashed VLC. When I restarted VLC the sound was messed up. This was after only 1 day uptime, so I don't think it was a leakage of resources issue.

So what can I do? I have hever had a problem with my PB yet before this... maybe I have to take my PB in to the Apple store?

I will try rebooting and see if it fixes it again...

Yep, restarting did the trick. Let's see how long it lasts this time...
